So, I was walking up my driveway this morning and I looked down and saw this ‘weed’ growing up through the asphalt.  It got me thinking…

One of my favorite sayings is:

There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.

Leonard Cohen

My little ‘weed’ could not have grown without that crack.

I have to ask myself, ‘what kind of a wall am I?  Am I solid, stiff, unbending, and rigid?  If so, how will I grow?

There is no doubt that cracks are painful, but they are necessary.  They allow the light to enter, they allow growth to occur.

It is only through the painful cracks in my life that I grow.

I hope this little ‘weed’ continues to remind me to celebrate my cracks, let the light in, and grow.  Grow in wisdom, grow in grace, grow in beauty, and grow in faith.
