O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Yesterday, I chose the first and then continued to act from the second. This is an ideal to practice while being gentle with ourselves as we do so…an ideal to grow into. 🙂
Now that is a thought-provoking question . . . and my answer makes all the difference in my attitude as I face the difficulties of the day. And there is a difference in just singing “Jesus loves me” and KNOWING it and LIVING it, isn’t there?
I like livin’ like I’m loved, even if it may sometimes be a big ol’ illusion. God’s labor of loving me each day comforts me when I feel unloved by the world.
Both but I think I get where you are coming from… but I’m feeling vulnerable today so things get messy.
Reminds me of part of St. Francis’ prayer:
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Good reminder on a difficult day …
Ouch. Choosing the better, right now. Of course, not much left of the day now…

Oh this is a good one. Blessings.
