Another Great Quote

I must really like this quote because I keep a little journal of favorite quotes and somehow this one was entered twice:

If  God had wanted to be a big secret, He would not have created babbling brooks and whispering pines.          Robert Brault

Autumn is certainly a season that is not quiet.  If you live in an area where there are definitive season changes then fall gives a final shout before ‘Old Man Winter’ settles in.  So much is written about autumn and the pictures that are captured, although beautiful, only capture a lens-full and can’t come close to the vibrancy  that bursts forth.  You can’t help ‘noticing’ the changes that occur in the fall.  So much concentration on the outside world while we ourselves prepare to head indoors to stay cozy by the warmth of the fire , ” mamma in her kerchief, and I in my cap”, so to speak.

God is constantly reaching out to us, reminding us that we are his.  At every moment of every day we are in his sight.   We can hear him through the voices of others.  People can keep us on the straight and narrow, sometimes they can be our conscience.  We hear his Word at our Services. We read about him in the books that were so brilliantly written by the Holy.  We learn about him in so many ways.  There are opportunities offered to us perpetually.  But if we listen, truly listen…..we hear him in nature.  And there we hear just three little words, ‘I love you’.  And then, we don’t just about about him……we come to know him.

As we prepare to go into our homes to wait out the winter, keep your ears to the windows and listen to the babbling brooks and the whispering pines.

  1. Andie – I saw your comment on my blog; thank you so much for your kind words and prayers.

We are blessed in our RCIA class with 7 people plus 3 incredibly gifted instructors. They have also said that they get as much – or more – from the RCIA classes as their students. It is a varied group with people like my husband who grew up Catholic and left the Church; people who have been thru RCIA before but needed to be refreshed, me who was raised evangelical Christian and even someone who was raised without any religion of any kind.

My husband and I are so excited about this journey.

And what you say in this post about listening to God in nature – it is the one thing that kept me grounded in some kind of faith, the knowledge that God truly is all around us, all you have to do is look and really see it all. The splendor and beauty.

  2. What a Great Quote!
It fits so well with how I feel each day when I stop to “smell the roses”
thats kind of why I began my photo blog, to share what wonders I see, and to remind others of the intricacies and abundance of this world… imagine what it was like before the fall… I cant even fathom what it will be like in heaven!
